Transportation to Aarhus

  • You can reach Aarhus via nearby airports. From the airports, onward travel to Aarhus is available by train, bus, or car.

    Aarhus Airport (AAR) → VIA University College

    • Bus: Direct Airport Express bus 925X to Aarhus Central Station, approx. 50 minutes.
    • Car: Approx. 33 minutes (41 km).

    Billund Airport (BLL) → VIA University College

    • Bus: Direct bus 912X to Aarhus Central Station, approx. 1 hour 30 minutes.
    • Bus + Train: Bus 43 to Vejle → train to Aarhus. Approx. 1 hour 40 minutes.
    • Car: Approx. 1 hour (95 km).

    Aalborg Airport (AAL) → VIA University College

    • Train: From Aalborg Airport Station to Aarhus Central Station, approx. 1 hour 45 minutes.
    • Bus: Approx. 3 hours with transfers.

    Copenhagen Airport (CPH) → VIA University College

    • Train: Direct train to Aarhus Central Station, approx. 3 hours 30 minutes.
    • Bus: FlixBus, approx. 4 hours 15 minutes.
    • Flight: Domestic flight to Aarhus (AAR), Billund (BLL), or Aalborg (AAL) → onward travel by bus/train.
    • Car: Approx. 3 hours (306 km).

  • Aarhus is part of the European rail network and can be reached by train from many cities. 

    International Train Travel → Aarhus Central Station

    Common routes include: 

    • Sweden: Trains from Gothenburg and Malmö via Copenhagen. Travel time from Gothenburg: approx. 7 hours with one transfer. 
    • Norway: Train routes from Oslo via Gothenburg and Copenhagen. 
    • Finland: No direct train due to the Baltic Sea. Travelers typically take a ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm, then train via Malmö and Copenhagen. 
    • Germany: Trains from Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Cologne to Aarhus via Odense or Flensburg. Travel time: approx. 9–10 hours. 

    Aarhus Central Station → VIA University College 

    Once in Aarhus, travelers can reach VIA University College easily: 

    • Bus: Direct city buses (e.g. lines 4A, 11, 12, 114, 118) from Aarhus H or Klostertorvet to Den Gamle By, near VIA Campus. Travel time: approx. 15–20 minutes.  
    • Taxi: Approx. 5-10 minutes from the station.  
    • Walking: About 15–20 minutes depending on route. 
  • Long-distance buses provide an affordable and convenient way to reach Aarhus from many cities in Denmark and Europe.

    • Stockholm → Aarhus: ~14–16 hours 
    • Gothenburg → Aarhus: ~8–10 hours

    Routes: E.g. Oslo → Copenhagen → Aarhus (with transfer). 

    Duration: ~12–14 hours. 

    Finland → Aarhus

    Operator: E.g. FlixBus (combined with ferry). 

    Route: 

    • Helsinki → Tallinn (ferry) 
    • Tallinn → Berlin (bus) 
    • Berlin → Aarhus (bus) 

    Duration: ~36 hours total with multiple transfers. 

    Note: No direct bus; route includes ferry and long-distance buses. 

    Germany → Aarhus

    Routes: Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt → Aarhus (direct or with transfers). 

    Duration:  

    • Hamburg → Aarhus: ~5 hours 
    • Berlin → Aarhus: ~8 hours 

    Arrival in Aarhus → VIA University College

    • Aarhus C FlixBus stop (Valdemarsgade) 
    • Aarhus Rutebilstation (central bus station) 

    From there, VIA University College is reachable by:

    • Example route: Oslo → Larvik → ferry to Hirtshals → E45 → Aarhus. 
    • Distance: ~800 km including ferry. 
    • Estimated time: ~7–8 hours (including ferry time). 
    • Alternative: Drive via Gothenburg and Copenhagen (no ferry), ~10–11 hours. 

    Finland → VIA University College 

    • Example route: Helsinki → ferry to Stockholm → drive via Malmö and Copenhagen → Aarhus. 
    • Distance: ~1,000+ km including ferry. 
    • Estimated time: ~24–26 hours total. 
    • Notes: No direct road; ferry from Finland to Sweden is essential. 
  • From Sweden → Aarhus 

    • Route: Gothenburg → Frederikshavn (Stena Line) → Drive or train to Aarhus. 
    • Alternative: Halmstad → Grenaa (Stena Line) → Drive to Aarhus. 
    • Duration: Ferry ~3–4 hours + 1.5–2 hours by car/train. 

    From Norway → Aarhus

    • Route: Oslo → Larvik → Ferry to Hirtshals → Drive to Aarhus. 
    • Alternative: Oslo → Ferry to Frederikshavn → Train or drive to Aarhus. 
    • Duration: Ferry ~3–4 hours + 2–3 hours by car/train. 

    From Finland → Aarhus

    • Route: Helsinki or Turku → Ferry to Stockholm → Drive/train to Gothenburg → Ferry to Frederikshavn → Aarhus. 
    • Alternative: Helsinki → Ferry to Tallinn → Bus to Berlin → Bus to Aarhus. 
    • Duration: Multi-leg journey, typically 24–36 hours. 

    From Germany → Aarhus

    • Route: Travemünde → Ferry to Sweden (e.g. Malmö) → Drive/train to Aarhus. 
    • Alternative: Drive to Odden → Ferry to Aarhus (Molslinjen). 
    • Duration: ~6–10 hours depending on route. 

    From the ferry in Aarhus → VIA University College 

    • Ferry Port: Aarhus Østhavn (Eastern Port), served by Molslinjen from Odden. 

    To VIA University College:  

    • Car: Approx. 10 minutes from the port. 
    • Bus: City buses from Østhavn or Aarhus C (lines 4A, 11, 12, 114, 118).
